I Am Not a Burden – A Letter to My Past Self

There was a time I believed my sadness was inconvenient. I thought my needs were too heavy to carry. For a long time, I convinced myself that love had to be earned by being easy to love. Back then, I truly believed I was a burden. This letter is for that version of me — the one who confused silence with safety, and exhaustion with worth.
I Am Not a Burden – A Message My Younger Self Needed

I see you — sitting quietly in the corner of your own life, afraid to ask for help. Sometimes you believe that needing others makes you weak. Instead of reaching out, you try to disappear into the background, hoping to finally feel safe. But love doesn’t live in silence. Rather, it thrives in connection and presence.
Today, I want you to hear this clearly: you are not a burden. You never were. You never will be.
Your Needs Were Valid – You Were Never Too Much

You didn’t ask for too much. What you wanted was what every heart longs for — care, warmth, patience. Unfortunately, the people around you didn’t know how to offer that. As a result, you made yourself smaller and quieter. You believed shrinking would make you easier to love. I feel deeply sorry you carried that false belief for so long.

You Deserved So Much More Than Survival

You weren’t dramatic. Instead, you survived the only way you knew how. Every single day, you fought to stay strong, to feel loved, and to keep it all together. Yet you didn’t need to prove your strength to deserve love. What you truly needed was someone to hold you. Now, I choose to do that — with every breath, every word, and all the care you never received.
